Frequently Asked Questions & Getting The Most Out Of Your Session
Your session is all about capturing beautiful images that show the love and connection between horse and human.
A little preparation beforehand makes a huge difference and helps us create the beautiful, natural images you’ve seen in my portfolio.
What to Wear
In all of my sessions I will encourage you to wear whatever you feel most comfortable and confident in. Flowing dresses make for beautiful images both on the ground and onboard, but ultimately you should wear whatever reflects your style and embraces your confidence.
If you’d like a little variety in your gallery, you’re more than welcome to bring a second outfit for a quick changeover during the session.
Headcollar? Bridle?
For the best results, I recommend having your horse in either a headcollar or bridle during the session. Not only does this help keep your horse safe and close by, but it also creates more relaxed and polished photographs. While I love natural-looking images, keeping your horse close to you allows me to guide you into flattering positions, capture genuine connection, and make the most of the light and surroundings.
My Direction
During your session, I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way. I may ask you to move slightly, change position, walk in a certain direction, or adjust how you’re standing with your horse.
These small changes can make a huge difference to the final images, helping me achieve the best lighting, composition and connection between you and your horse.
My goal is to create beautiful, timeless photographs that you’ll treasure for years to come, and a little direction helps us make the most of every moment together.
Inspiration
If you have a particular style or certain poses you’d love to include in your session, I’d love to see them! I encourage you to save a few inspiration images from Pinterest or anywhere else you find ideas. This helps me understand your vision and plan the session around the images you love.
Every horse, location and lighting situation is unique, so while I can’t guarantee an exact recreation, I’ll always use your inspiration to create beautiful photographs that feel natural and personal to you.
If you’re not sure what you’d like, don’t worry at all, we will work it out together!
What if the weather is bad?
The British weather can be unpredictable, so if conditions aren’t suitable for your session, we’ll simply rearrange for another date that works for us both. My priority is creating beautiful photographs in the best possible light, so I’m always happy to wait for the right weather.
When will I receive my gallery?
Your photographs are carefully hand edited to ensure every image meets the highest standard and consistent throughout your gallery.
Your private online gallery will usually be ready within 1-2 weeks, where you’ll be able to download your included images, share your gallery with family and friends, and purchase additional photographs or wall art if you wish.
Prints & Wall Art
Your memories deserve more than just a place on your phone.
Through your private online gallery, you’ll have access to a beautiful range of professionally printed products, including fine art prints, framed wall art and canvases.
Each product is created using high-quality materials to ensure your photographs can be treasured for years to come.
Do you travel?
Yes! I photograph horses across Somerset and the surrounding areas.
Travel within 10 miles of my location (near Shepton Mallet) is included in your session fee, with a mileage charge applying for locations further afield.
If you’re unsure whether your location falls within this area, just get in touch.
Can I share my images on social media?
Absolutely! I love seeing your favourite photographs shared and enjoyed.
Please avoid applying filters or editing the images, as each photograph has been carefully edited to reflect my style.
If possible, I’d be grateful if you could tag Katie Ada Photography when sharing your images.
How should I prepare my horse?
A little preparation can make a big difference, a photoshoot is a luxury experience and I would always suggest pampering your horse, and yourself to prepare for your photoshoot.
Giving your horse a thorough groom, cleaning tack if it’s being used, and wiping eyes and noses before the session will help create polished photographs.
If possible, try to keep rugs off beforehand to reduce marks on the coat. I suggest prepping as if you would for a show, without the stress and pressure!
Your images will look beautiful no matter what, so please don’t worry if everything isn’t perfect, I’ll always do my best to capture your horse looking their very best.

There’s no need to worry about posing or knowing what to do, I’ll guide you every step of the way to help you feel relaxed and comfortable. Some of the most beautiful photographs come from natural interactions, genuine smiles and the bond you share with your horse.
You’re also very welcome to include more than one horse, well-behaved dogs or even family members if you’d like to make your session even more personal.
